zeplin-automation

Helps your agent automate tasks in Zeplin. Useful for managing designs and collaborating with development teams.

What it does

This tool helps automate tasks in Zeplin, a platform for designers and developers. It allows you to interact with Zeplin through simple commands.

When to use it

  • ✓When you need to retrieve specific information from a Zeplin project.
  • ✓To automate the export of design assets or data.
  • ✓When integrating Zeplin with other development tools.

Example of what to ask your AI

“I want to find all components in the 'Mobile App X' project on Zeplin.”

Ready-to-paste message

Use this skill to help me: https://github.com/ComposioHQ/awesome-claude-skills/blob/master/composio-skills/zeplin-automation/SKILL.md Read the SKILL.md file at that link and follow its instructions for my task.
How it works

The tool works by discovering the available functions for Zeplin and then executing the specific command you requested. It always checks if the connection to Zeplin is active before performing any action.

Installation

Easiest way: copy the skill link and paste it into Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor asking it to follow the instructions.

In the terminal (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor), in your project folder:

npx skills add ComposioHQ/awesome-claude-skills --skill zeplin-automation

Or download just the file:

curl -L https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ComposioHQ/awesome-claude-skills/master/composio-skills/zeplin-automation/SKILL.md -o SKILL.md

Zeplin Automation via Rube MCP

Automate Zeplin operations through Composio's Zeplin toolkit via Rube MCP.

Toolkit docs: composio.dev/toolkits/zeplin

Prerequisites

  • Rube MCP must be connected (RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS available)
  • Active Zeplin connection via RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS with toolkit zeplin
  • Always call RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS first to get current tool schemas

Setup

Get Rube MCP: Add https://rube.app/mcp as an MCP server in your client configuration. No API keys needed — just add the endpoint and it works.

  1. Verify Rube MCP is available by confirming RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS responds
  2. Call RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS with toolkit zeplin
  3. If connection is not ACTIVE, follow the returned auth link to complete setup
  4. Confirm connection status shows ACTIVE before running any workflows

Tool Discovery

Always discover available tools before executing workflows:

RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
queries: [{use_case: "Zeplin operations", known_fields: ""}]
session: {generate_id: true}

This returns available tool slugs, input schemas, recommended execution plans, and known pitfalls.

Core Workflow Pattern

Step 1: Discover Available Tools

RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
queries: [{use_case: "your specific Zeplin task"}]
session: {id: "existing_session_id"}

Step 2: Check Connection

RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS
toolkits: ["zeplin"]
session_id: "your_session_id"

Step 3: Execute Tools

RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL
tools: [{
  tool_slug: "TOOL_SLUG_FROM_SEARCH",
  arguments: {/* schema-compliant args from search results */}
}]
memory: {}
session_id: "your_session_id"

Known Pitfalls

  • Always search first: Tool schemas change. Never hardcode tool slugs or arguments without calling RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
  • Check connection: Verify RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS shows ACTIVE status before executing tools
  • Schema compliance: Use exact field names and types from the search results
  • Memory parameter: Always include memory in RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL calls, even if empty ({})
  • Session reuse: Reuse session IDs within a workflow. Generate new ones for new workflows
  • Pagination: Check responses for pagination tokens and continue fetching until complete

Quick Reference

Operation Approach
Find tools RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS with Zeplin-specific use case
Connect RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS with toolkit zeplin
Execute RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL with discovered tool slugs
Bulk ops RUBE_REMOTE_WORKBENCH with run_composio_tool()
Full schema RUBE_GET_TOOL_SCHEMAS for tools with schemaRef

FAQ

Do I need any special keys or setup?

You need to set up Rube MCP in your client and connect your Zeplin account. API keys are usually not needed, but follow the connection instructions.

What do 'schemas' mean?

Schemas are like 'templates' or 'structures' that define how the tool understands and interacts with Zeplin. It's important to always search for the latest schemas to ensure commands work correctly.

Can I run multiple tasks at once?

Yes, the tool allows executing multiple commands in sequence, which can optimize your workflow.
