dictionary-api-automation
Enables your agent to automate dictionary lookups. It can find definitions, synonyms, and word information.
What it does
This tool helps automate tasks using the Dictionary API. It finds the best ways to do what you ask and performs the necessary actions.
When to use it
- ✓When you need to look up word definitions.
- ✓When you want to add or manage dictionary entries.
- ✓When you need to integrate a dictionary with other applications.
Example of what to ask your AI
“Look up the definition of the word 'resilience' in the Dictionary API.”

Ready-to-paste message
How it works
First, the tool searches for available functions in the Dictionary API. Then, it checks if the connection is active, and finally, it executes the requested task using the information found.
Installation
Easiest way: copy the skill link and paste it into Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor asking it to follow the instructions.
In the terminal (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor), in your project folder:

Dictionary API Automation via Rube MCP
Automate Dictionary API operations through Composio's Dictionary API toolkit via Rube MCP.
Toolkit docs: composio.dev/toolkits/dictionary_api
Prerequisites
- Rube MCP must be connected (RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS available)
- Active Dictionary API connection via
RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONSwith toolkitdictionary_api - Always call
RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLSfirst to get current tool schemas
Setup
Get Rube MCP: Add https://rube.app/mcp as an MCP server in your client configuration. No API keys needed — just add the endpoint and it works.
- Verify Rube MCP is available by confirming
RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLSresponds - Call
RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONSwith toolkitdictionary_api - If connection is not ACTIVE, follow the returned auth link to complete setup
- Confirm connection status shows ACTIVE before running any workflows
Tool Discovery
Always discover available tools before executing workflows:
RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
queries: [{use_case: "Dictionary API operations", known_fields: ""}]
session: {generate_id: true}
This returns available tool slugs, input schemas, recommended execution plans, and known pitfalls.
Core Workflow Pattern
Step 1: Discover Available Tools
RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS
queries: [{use_case: "your specific Dictionary API task"}]
session: {id: "existing_session_id"}
Step 2: Check Connection
RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONS
toolkits: ["dictionary_api"]
session_id: "your_session_id"
Step 3: Execute Tools
RUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOL
tools: [{
tool_slug: "TOOL_SLUG_FROM_SEARCH",
arguments: {/* schema-compliant args from search results */}
}]
memory: {}
session_id: "your_session_id"
Known Pitfalls
- Always search first: Tool schemas change. Never hardcode tool slugs or arguments without calling
RUBE_SEARCH_TOOLS - Check connection: Verify
RUBE_MANAGE_CONNECTIONSshows ACTIVE status before executing tools - Schema compliance: Use exact field names and types from the search results
- Memory parameter: Always include
memoryinRUBE_MULTI_EXECUTE_TOOLcalls, even if empty ({}) - Session reuse: Reuse session IDs within a workflow. Generate new ones for new workflows
- Pagination: Check responses for pagination tokens and continue fetching until complete

FAQ
Do I need any special keys or setup?
You need to connect Rube MCP and have an active Dictionary API connection. API keys are usually not needed, but follow the connection instructions.
What do 'schemas' mean?
Schemas are like 'templates' or 'structures' that define how data should be organized to use the API. The tool always looks for the latest schemas to ensure everything works correctly.
What is Rube MCP?
Rube MCP is a system that helps the AI find and use tools and APIs. You need to add it in your AI client's configuration.
