async-python-patterns
Lets your agent create Python programs that run concurrently. It uses techniques so tasks don't have to wait for each other. Good for systems that need to be fast.
What it does
This tool helps create faster and more efficient computer programs in Python, especially when they need to do many things at once without freezing. It teaches how to use modern techniques so the program doesn't have to wait for slow tasks, like accessing the internet or a database.
When to use it
- ✓Building websites or apps that respond quickly.
- ✓Having the program download multiple things from the internet at once.
- ✓Creating systems that need to handle many connections simultaneously.
Example of what to ask your AI
“How can I make my Python program download 100 images from the internet as fast as possible?”

How to use
The easiest way: copy the message below and paste it into Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any AI. It reads the skill and follows the instructions.

How it works
The tool uses a concept called 'asynchronous programming' to allow the program to start a task (like fetching data from the web) and, while waiting, begin another. This is done using keywords like 'async' and 'await'.
Installation
Easiest way: copy the skill link and paste it into Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor asking it to follow the instructions.

Async Python Patterns
Comprehensive guidance for implementing asynchronous Python applications using asyncio, concurrent programming patterns, and async/await for building high-performance, non-blocking systems.
Use this skill when
- Building async web APIs (FastAPI, aiohttp, Sanic)
- Implementing concurrent I/O operations (database, file, network)
- Creating web scrapers with concurrent requests
- Developing real-time applications (WebSocket servers, chat systems)
- Processing multiple independent tasks simultaneously
- Building microservices with async communication
- Optimizing I/O-bound workloads
- Implementing async background tasks and queues
Do not use this skill when
- The workload is CPU-bound with minimal I/O.
- A simple synchronous script is sufficient.
- The runtime environment cannot support asyncio/event loop usage.
Instructions
- Clarify workload characteristics (I/O vs CPU), targets, and runtime constraints.
- Pick concurrency patterns (tasks, gather, queues, pools) with cancellation rules.
- Add timeouts, backpressure, and structured error handling.
- Include testing and debugging guidance for async code paths.
- If detailed examples are required, open
resources/implementation-playbook.md.
Refer to resources/implementation-playbook.md for detailed patterns and examples.

Limitations
- Use this skill only when the task clearly matches the scope described above.
- Do not treat the output as a substitute for environment-specific validation, testing, or expert review.
- Stop and ask for clarification if required inputs, permissions, safety boundaries, or success criteria are missing.
FAQ
What does 'asynchronous' mean?
It's like multitasking. Instead of waiting for one task to finish before starting the next, the program can start several and switch between them when one is waiting.
When should I NOT use this?
If your program does a lot of heavy calculations with little waiting for external things (internet, disk), or if you only need a simple script, this tool might not be the best choice.
Where can I find practical examples?
The file `resources/implementation-playbook.md` contains detailed examples of how to apply these patterns.
