claude-code-guide
Lets your agent understand how to best use the Claude Code coding tool.
What it does
This guide teaches how to set up and use Claude Code, a tool to help with programming. It shows how to give clear instructions to the AI, organize code, and solve problems.
When to use it
- ✓When you want to define how the AI should organize a programming project.
- ✓If the AI is having trouble understanding your code instructions.
- ✓To create a guide on how to run, test, and build your project.
Example of what to ask your AI
“Help me set up the CLAUDE.md file for a React with TypeScript project, including commands to run and test.”

How to use
The easiest way: copy the message below and paste it into Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any AI. It reads the skill and follows the instructions.

How it works
Claude Code works by reading a special file called CLAUDE.md. You write rules and commands in this file for the AI to follow for your project. It also suggests keywords to help the AI think better and solve errors.
Installation
Easiest way: copy the skill link and paste it into Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor asking it to follow the instructions.
In the terminal (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor), in your project folder:
npx skills add sickn33/agentic-awesome-skills --skill claude-code-guideOr download just the file:

Claude Code Guide
Purpose
To provide a comprehensive reference for configuring and using Claude Code (the agentic coding tool) to its full potential. This skill synthesizes best practices, configuration templates, and advanced usage patterns.
Configuration (CLAUDE.md)
Read existing project instructions first. Add or update a project CLAUDE.md only within the requested scope, preserving repository conventions and existing instructions. The template below illustrates a React/TypeScript npm project; replace its commands and stack rules with verified project facts.
Template (General)
# Project Guidelines
## Commands
- Run app: `npm run dev`
- Test: `npm test`
- Build: `npm run build`
## Code Style
- Use TypeScript for all new code.
- Functional components with Hooks for React.
- Tailwind CSS for styling.
- Early returns for error handling.
## Workflow
- Read `README.md` first to understand project context.
- Before editing, read the file content.
- After editing, run tests to verify.
Advanced Features
Thinking Keywords
State the desired investigation and verification criteria explicitly. These phrases describe tasks; they are not guaranteed switches for model reasoning effort:
- "Think step-by-step"
- "Analyze the root cause"
- "Plan before executing"
- "Verify your assumptions"
Debugging
If the agent is stuck or behaving unexpectedly:
- Clear Context: Save the task state and relevant evidence before starting a new session. A prompt to forget instructions does not erase loaded project rules.
- Explicit Instructions: Be extremely specific about paths, filenames, and desired outcomes.
- Logs: Ask the agent to "check the logs" or "run the command with verbose output".
Best Practices
- Small Contexts: Don't dump the entire codebase into the context. Use
rgorrg --filesto locate relevant files first. - Iterative Development: Ask for small changes, verify, then proceed.
- Feedback Loop: If the agent makes a mistake, correct it immediately and ask it to "add a lesson" to its memory (if supported) or
CLAUDE.md.
Verification
Inspect the resulting diff and confirm the intended instructions actually load in the installed host. Project instructions guide behavior; they do not enforce a security boundary. Keep secrets out of tracked instructions. Check current features against official memory documentation.

When to Use
Use when configuring project instructions, diagnosing conflicting Claude Code guidance, or defining verified build/test workflows.
Limitations
- Use this skill only when the task clearly matches the scope described above.
- Do not treat the output as a substitute for environment-specific validation, testing, or expert review.
- Stop and ask for clarification if required inputs, permissions, safety boundaries, or success criteria are missing.
FAQ
What is the CLAUDE.md file?
It's a file where you write instructions for Claude Code on how it should work on your project. It contains rules on how to write code, commands to run the project, and how to solve problems.
How do I get the AI to fix an error?
You can ask the AI to 'check the logs' or 'run the command with verbose output'. It's also helpful to give very specific instructions about what you want it to do.
Can I put passwords or secret information in CLAUDE.md?
No. The CLAUDE.md file is for guiding the AI's behavior, not for protecting information. Keep secrets out of the instructions.
