global-chat-agent-discovery
Helps your agent find and compare other AI agents. It's useful for choosing the best tool for a specific task.
What it does
This agent helps you find other AI agents and servers that can perform specific tasks. It acts like a directory to discover available tools.
When to use it
- ✓When you need to find a server for a specific task (e.g., file conversion).
- ✓When comparing which agent registries have the tools you need.
- ✓When setting up agent-to-agent communication and need to discover available ones.
Example of what to ask your AI
“Find servers that convert PDF files to text.”

How it works
You can use a special server (called MCP) to search for other agents, or browse a website that lists them all. It checks different types of agent lists.
Installation
Easiest way: copy the skill link and paste it into Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor asking it to follow the instructions.
In the terminal (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor), in your project folder:

Global Chat Agent Discovery
Overview
Global Chat is described by its contributed source as a cross-protocol agent discovery directory. Verify current service availability and coverage; directory totals and listings are not independently guaranteed. On 2026-10-14, the declared public source repository returned HTTP 404. Do not install a package or configure a host until its publisher, source, version and current service have been verified. It also provides an MCP server (@global-chat/mcp-server) for programmatic access to the directory from any MCP-compatible client.
When to Use This Skill
- Use when you need to find an MCP server for a specific capability (e.g., database access, file conversion, API integration)
- Use when evaluating which agent registries carry tools for your use case
- Use when you want to search across multiple protocols (MCP, A2A, agents.txt) simultaneously
- Use when setting up agent-to-agent communication and need to discover available endpoints
How It Works
Option 1: Use the MCP Server (Recommended for Agents)
Install the Global Chat MCP server to search the directory programmatically from Claude Code, Cursor, or any MCP client.
npm view @global-chat/mcp-server version repository dist.integrity
# Inspection only. After publisher/source verification, install a reviewed pinned version in an isolated project.
Add to your MCP client configuration:
{
"mcpServers": {
"global-chat": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["@global-chat/mcp-server@REVIEWED_VERSION"]
}
}
}
The configuration is a template: replace REVIEWED_VERSION with a verified version and apply it only within authorized host setup. Discovery does not authorize installing or invoking a listed tool.
Then ask your agent to search for tools:
Search Global Chat for MCP servers that handle PostgreSQL database queries.
Option 2: Use the Web Directory
Browse the full directory at https://global-chat.io:
- Visit the search page and enter your query
- Filter by protocol (MCP, A2A, agents.txt)
- Filter by registry source
- View server details, capabilities, and installation instructions
Option 3: Validate Your agents.txt
If you maintain an agents.txt file, verify the current validator and its data policy:
- Go to https://global-chat.io/validate
- Enter your domain or paste your agents.txt content
- Get instant feedback on format compliance and discoverability
Examples
The following responses are illustrative formats, not verified live results or endorsements. Check publisher identity, endpoint ownership, authentication, data retention and requested permissions for each candidate.
Example 1: Find MCP Servers for a Task
You: "Find MCP servers that can convert PDF files to text"
Agent (via Global Chat MCP): Searching across 6 registries...
- @anthropic/pdf-tools (mcpservers.org) — PDF parsing and text extraction
- pdf-converter-mcp (mcp.so) — Convert PDF to text, markdown, or HTML
- ...
Example 2: Discover A2A Agents
You: "What A2A agents are available for code review?"
Agent (via Global Chat MCP): Found 12 A2A agents for code review across 3 registries...
Example 3: Check Agent Protocol Coverage
You: "How many registries list tools for Kubernetes management?"
Agent (via Global Chat MCP): 4 registries carry Kubernetes-related agents (23 total entries)...
Best Practices
- Use the MCP server for automated workflows and agent-to-agent discovery
- Use the web directory for manual exploration and comparison
- Validate syntax against the relevant current protocol; validation does not guarantee discoverability
- Check multiple registries — coverage varies significantly by domain
Common Pitfalls
Problem: Search returns too many results Solution: Add protocol or registry filters to narrow the scope
Problem: MCP server not connecting Solution: Inspect the verified pinned package and host error first. Do not run an unknown package merely to diagnose a connection.

Limitations
- Use this skill only when the task clearly matches the scope described above.

FAQ
What is an 'MCP server'?
It's a type of server that helps other computer programs find and talk to each other, like a phone book for AI agents.
What does 'cross-protocol directory' mean?
It means it can search across different types of agent lists, even if they use different 'languages' (protocols).
Can I trust the results?
The system advises you to check the identity and security of each agent found before using it.
