macos-reverse

Allows your agent to analyze macOS systems in detail. It helps investigate security, code, and malware on Apple platforms.

What it does

This tool helps investigate suspicious programs and files on macOS. It checks signatures, analyzes code, and understands how programs written in Objective-C and Swift work.

When to use it

  • ✓When you encounter a suspicious program or file on your Mac.
  • ✓To check if a program has unusual permissions or has been tampered with.
  • ✓When trying to understand how a specific macOS program functions internally.

Example of what to ask your AI

“Analyze this suspicious file from my Mac and tell me if it's safe.”

How it works

It uses macOS-specific tools to look inside programs. First, it checks the program's identity and permissions. Then, it examines the code to understand its structure and behavior.

Installation

Easiest way: copy the skill link and paste it into Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor asking it to follow the instructions.

In the terminal (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor), in your project folder:

macOS / Mach-O Reverse Engineering

When to Use

  • Analyzing macOS binaries or suspected malware samples.
  • Inspecting entitlements, signatures, and ObjC/Swift structures.

  • .app bundle、LaunchAgent/Daemon

file target
codesign -dv --verbose=4 target
spctl -a -vv target 2>&1
otool -L target

2. 静态

□ class-dump / swift-demangle / Hopper / Ghidra / IDA
□ LC_LOAD_dylib 依赖与 rpath

3. 动态

□ lldb / Frida

Hopper / Ghidra / IDA 反编译
class-dump / dsdump ObjC
Frida / lldb 动态
jtool2 Mach-O

  • Checklist?

Limitations

  • Apple Silicon and hardened runtime add unpacking complexity.
  • Some analysis requires disabling SIP in a dedicated lab VM.

FAQ

What are 'entitlements' and 'signatures'?

'Signatures' are like a seal of authenticity that ensures the program hasn't been altered. 'Entitlements' are special permissions a program has to access certain system parts or data.

What are Objective-C/Swift?

These are the most common programming languages used to create apps on macOS and iOS. Understanding these structures helps in code analysis.

Can I use this to analyze any file type?

This tool focuses on macOS executable files and program bundles (Mach-O files). It's not ideal for other file types like documents or images.
